Technical Regulations for Modified Class

The engine must remain based on OEM specifications, with certain restrictions to prevent unauthorized engine swaps or structural modifications that violate the competition regulations.

Definition: “Modified”

It refers to allowing competitors to freely modify, alter, or replace internal engine components while remaining based on the original OEM engine structure. Performance modifications are unrestricted, provided that the engine originates from a manufacturer-approved motorcycle model and is used in an eligible race model.

⚙️ Engine block - Must remain original.

  • OEM Only: It must be the original factory engine, the same model as the car used for racing and registration.

⚙️ Number of pistons & arrangement

  • Piston Layout: The number of pistons and their arrangement must remain the same (e.g., a 4-cylinder inline engine must remain a 4-cylinder inline engine).

⚙️ Crankshaft position

  • Crankshaft Position: prohibit! Relocating the crankshaft drastically changes the engine's characteristics.

✅ Permitted Modifications

  • Camshaft: The shape, angle, and lifting distance can be changed completely freely.
  • Control box: It can be freely converted to a stand-alone ECU, sub-unit, injectors, fuel pump, fuel dispenser, etc.

  • Cylinder head: The cylinder block can be replaced or modified, provided it is installed on the original crankcase studs. The mounting points must not alter the original structure.
  • Crankshaft: It can be replaced with a performance crankshaft or a lightweight crankshaft if it's specifically designed for that vehicle model.
  • Stroke / Cylinder bore: The stroke or bore can be modified to increase or decrease the cylinder volume (cc.) according to strategy.
  • Clutch system: You can replace the clutch with a performance clutch or install a slipper clutch system as needed.

🚫 Prohibited Items (Even in Full Modification Category)

  • The engines used in the competition must be from original equipment manufacturer (OEM) vehicles and match the registered/announced competition model and the model registered for.
  • The original crankcase allows for welding or altering the length of the piston studs. While welding or adjusting the length of the piston studs is possible (e.g., changing the height to accommodate a new piston), it is prohibited to change the position, extend the spacing, or increase the number of studs. Furthermore, using a cylinder block/cylinder head from another model that does not match the original stud positions for that model is prohibited.
  • Using a newly manufactured crankcase, even if it has the same size and shape as the original, 👉 is considered a violation because it did not come from the vehicle manufacturer (OEM).
  • The oil drain pan must completely cover the engine and be able to hold more than 1.5 liters of engine oil.
  • Superchargers or turbochargers are prohibited, except for airbox compression systems.
  • Do not install a nitrous oxide (NOS) injection system.
